The first show of our year was “The Tadcaster Classic Car Show” on Sunday 5th of May organised by club members Dennis Hodge and Jonathon Craig and once again held on John Smith’s Brewery car park, Tadcaster. Although it was fine there was a bitter wind out there to catch the unwary but that did not seem to deter as the event was very well attended with even more cars on display than in previous years and the standard of the cars exceeded all expectations. Not only is this the first show for our club it is also a chance for other classic car owners to attend with
their cars that could have been previously kept under wraps for the winter. So popular is this event that you have to be booked in early.
Although there is no charge for attendance a donation is suggested. This and a collection on the day saw the club presenting a cheque for £1179.00 to ‘The Yorkshire Air Ambulance’ which was received on their behalf by Gwen Taylor, a volunteer, but also one of our club members.
As the show gets bigger then so do the logistics for organisers but the support from the members helping on the day made sure that
the whole day ran smoothly so thank you to you all. The catering facilities were excellent making sure that hot sandwiches and coffee were available for those that wanted it.
With so many immaculate cars to choose from the judges had their work cut out for them for the ‘concours d’elegance’ to choose just one winner and this year the car judged as the winner was club member Brian Hill with his MGA winning both the shield and a bottle of Bubbly. Well done Brian, a very worthy winner. The prizes were presented by Gwen Taylor.
A big thank you to you all who supported the day and helped to raise the £1179.00 for ‘The Yorkshire Air Ambulance’ which will help them to continue with the fantastic service that they deliver, not only to us the motorist but to whoever needs their expertise.
A really good day all round, albeit a bit chilly so remember to bring a fleece next year.
