This year’s Drive it Day club run on 23rd April, is an outing to explore at leisure the Unesco World Heritage site of Saltaire Village.

Meeting at Stephen Smith’s garden centre in Otley (LS21 1DY) on the Pool road for an  11am start, then a run of around 40 miles into the Dales and back, bringing us to the free car park at Salts Mill in Saltaire. There is then a 300 yard walk to the mill entrance, but disabled parking should be available much nearer.

Salts Mill itself, houses 2 restaurants, a coffee bar and much more. As well as the well known 1853 Gallery with displays of David Hockney’s work, there are shops selling books, clothing, posters, antiques, bikes and plenty of other things.

If the weather is good visit Roberts Park and walk along the towpath by the Leeds Liverpool canal.

Saltaire village has several places to eat, including the Boathouse Inn by the river Aire, and  Don’t Tell Titus on Victoria Road.
