The run started at Ainsty Farm shop on the A59 York to Knaresborough road where 9 cars arrived with the weather looking mixed. After refreshments a group photo was taken and we set off at various intervals.
The route took us north through some beautiful villages and winding lanes towards Boroughbridge, from there to Topcliffe, past Northallerton and the looped south towards Leeming Bar and Bedale (toilet stop and refreshments), and finally past the outskirts of Ripon and on to the A61 to the Masons Arms at Bishop Monkton. It is surprising that we were never more than 6 miles from the A1 going north and south yet the countryside was beautiful and peaceful with the weather improving throughout the day, except for 2 miles from the start when hoods had to go up.
The pub was very welcoming and the food at 3-30 was most welcome to our hungry group. Thanks must go to Derek and Gwen Taylor for the effort they put into planning the run, which I know, was fraught with problems during its final stages.
